    Default Trusses and Metal Roofing

I don't think we have a sponsor for this anymore, do we? Just checking to see if anyone has a hookup before I start cold calling. I've dealt with Quality in Newberry in the past and was pleased. Hoover is close, too. Trusses will need to be 44' total length. The center 24' of span will be clear, each 10' on either side of center will be supported by the 2 shipping containers I'm having delivered. I'm thinking 5/12 on the pitch and plan on conventional pole barn layout with purlins. Prefer green roofing, but not opposed to bare metal. Help a brother out. What am I missing?

I use quality in Newberry. Recently been using Yoder in Newberry for metal. I've never seen a green metal roof that wasn't ugly and faded. Something to think about. 4/12 is easier to walk on.

I've always thought that colored metal is just tacky as all hell. I'm having a pole kinda building being built right now for a grilling place, no clue where they're getting the stuff from.. I'm just paying and pointing.

Green was only to match the roof on my house. I'm doing it all myself because I made poor life decisions and don't own a couple likker sto's.

I have gone with Quality several times for trusses on DIY jobs. They are good people.

Yep Greg is good people but they stay backed up. Had Hoover replace the one that got wiped out from the tornado last may. Greg could not get to us before December. Hoover had it up in 4-weeks. A little more pricey but not much

I'd love to see pictures when you get done. I've got two containers that were placed 12' apart with just this in mind.

Are you planning any overhang on the outside of the containers? I was also thinking of having the roof extend 6' in front of the doors.

Have CUsportsman post a picture of their setup. It uses 2 containers and a double carport type structure.

Looking at a 16" overhang just for aesthetic reasons. Doubt I'll finish the soffit, just run fascia since it'll be open-air underneath. I'm going flush on the gable ends for now with plans to set poles and extend front gable out another 20'.

This is what I'm going for, except for the roof pitch. I'm going to have a sawmill come out and cut the pines I have for the gables. Rafter tails will be extensions of the bottom chord instead of the top, like shown here.barn.jpg
