The "why would I care about constitutional rights if I'm not doing anything wrong?" crowd always makes an appearance.

Yup, there just happen to be that many dumb people in this country/world.

If you are not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to hide.

myeah....i love being the devil's advocate....

I dont care if the .gov has my DNA. Its not like they can learn anything from it.

However, I dont like unlawful search and seizure. I'm not letting any cop into my house without a warrant.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

I'll play.....so what do I have to hide?

I am a citizen. I work. I pay my bills, and my taxes. I live in a home in my name, and anyone can find me anytime. I don't do or sell drugs. I don't watch kiddie porn or pay prostitutes. I don't have any warrants, wants, or liens on me or my property. Neither do my wife or son. So, what do I have to hide?

Not being sarcastic, and I am seriously asking, because maybe I am missing something. I was raised up to do the right thing, and to take responsibility and man up when I do not. If I screw up and do something wrong, I want to hope that I would not try to hide it, and that I would take my medicine, so I sure do not understand what I have to hide given that I am not doing anything, and have not done anything that I should be afraid or ashamed for anyone to find out about.

Because they can destroy your house on a fishing exposition. If you keep a large amount of liquid assets like gold or cash you might be a drug dealer and the can confiscate it. Your not a drug dealer but, good luck getting your cash back. Oh, that early colt 1911 you have in the safe is the same caliber as what was used in a local homicide, it could be confiscated, just to check it. They will give you a condolence letter when it comes up missing from the evidence locker though!

Common sense is not a gift. It's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone else who doesn't have it.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is,
as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

None of that has anything to do with what I am saying. I am NOT saying that the government has a RIGHT to, or should be able to take your DNA without your consent or without a warrant under probable cause. I do not believe that for one minute. What I am saying is that I, personally, and for myself, would have no problem putting my DNA into a public database. Me, and me alone. But it seems that a bunch of nervous, twitchy folks on here can't understand that and think that I am trying to burn the constitution and start over. Reading comprehension is really not overrated, and I wish people would give it a try before posting.

When I was a little boy, I remember my Daddy telling me "Son, if you see me doing something, you can do it." That was pretty strong to me then, and still is. That is how I try to live my life in front of my son and everyone else. Do I mess up and make mistakes? Sure. But I have nothing in my life to hide that would cause me to fear that my DNA was in a public database, and I have nothing in my house that I would be afraid for the cops to see.

There's a pretty big gap between paranoid and complete trust.

I laugh at paranoid people. But I also laugh at the people that completely trust them because they never do anything wrong. That attitude insinuates that the government sets your standards for you. And that any new laws are obeyed without question.

Yep. Those same words cost a lady from NC a seat in the House. Hopefully if would any politician in SC still.

The question do police have the right to DNA given to a private company without a warrant for each person's DNA? They over stepped and the courts will rule that way. Some may not care but emotions do not change if the search was legal or not.

If you ever give the Government a gray area in the law, they will cross the line.....Everytime.

Hence, my referral to a violation of the 4th ammendment. But some people believe that the government always goes by the book, and is laudable in all their actions.

"If it saves just one life, it is worth it!" How many times have we heard that statement?

If they asked the company for the info without the warrant and the company complied and there is nothing in the user agreement that doesn't prohibit this, the company and police likely did nothing wrong.
