What’s the website to check criminal records in South Carolina. Seemed like it was a county by county search.

The SC public index (if its the county sites I'm thinking of) are tedious bc you have to search each county individually. The SLED check only comes back with more serious crimes. You can pay one of the background screening companies you can find online, but they tend to not turn up much. Basically, in my experience, unless you are LEO you won't be able to turn up much. I say this having ran a property management company for 6 years and have looked into multiple ways to find info on people and having had conversations with detectives/fbi guys I have met in my travels about the subject.

The index is what I was thinking about. Thanks.
I just looked up Peepaw.
Holy. Shit.
I had to fire someone that passed the SLED check for shoplifting while on the job- a google search quickly revealed that he was part of a theft ring accused of over 170 auto break ins that stopped with his arrest-he had gotten PTI but a thief never stops stealing
Now I run a google check into the person along with the SLED check if they pass google

Google and county record searches are pretty good. I sent a fella a property rental application this past weekend and he crawfished and texted me that he "wanted to talk". I refused and did very minor digging online of county records. 3 "rule to vacate", 1 "Criminal Domestic Violence", 3 minor traffic violations and then google revealed he was arrested for withholding knowledge of a murder. Nice guy.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.
