Adding the vent helps. Even makes the safety ones better. I bought about 10 “vents” on amazon for next to nothing.

There's a You-Tube video that shows how to remove the obstruction in the spout. Then you drill a hole on the back, install a tire valve, and remove the little stem. (There's a special wrench for that). Then it works just like the old kind.

These. Can probably be had at the local hardware too.

Go to Richland industrial and get a safety can. I have a 1 gallon one for chainsaw, 1 gallon for the mower, etc. They're the best.

I don’t cry about spilling an ounce or two of gas or getting some on my hands. That being said the new nozzles suck and are way too slow. Unscrew the nozzle and pour straight from the jug, get a funnel if you need it.

I want a gas can with a 2" diameter spout. I get tired of filling my mower for 20 mins w/ my shitty safety cans.
I take an PLB in the shower with me. Can't ever be too safe.

Whats it like to live w/o the Internet? Not bad, I get photos of your mom thought the mail....

But just go ahead and buy the racing fuel cans. I paid $30 and they are much better than the $20 cans. Mine says VP racing on it, I think. I'll take a picture.

ETA a pic. They come in different colors. They were out of yellow so I went with white.

I've had the same can between 25-30 years. Started using them when I raced motocross. Go by G3 Powersports and get you one. You won't regret it

Like others have said. Tractor supply has spouts for 11-12 bucks and the metal safety cans for $30.
