    Default Fosiform Rust in Pines

Timber guys - I just started noticing what I think Ive identified as Fusiform Rust in some of my naturally seeded/non planted pine stands. I did read some reading but was curious what info y’all could provide.

Get rid of the oaks in your pine stands. That should help.

I have noticed a lot of this recently on a tract I hunt in Clarendon County. It only seems to be on the trees with some sort of defect such as catheads or forks. Does it affect the health of the tree?

Yeah if it gets on the main stem of the tree, it's bad. Sometimes it can just get on the branches though.

May just be coincidence, but I have seen it more this year than I believe I ever have before.

We have it more than ever before. Less than 10% but still more than I have ever seen.

I have noticed it as well on different tracts while hunting this year.
