Jack Kuenzie is "on his side". They will get to the bottom of it quick like.

Personally, I think this may be the silliest cry for attention that has ever been posted on here. Are you a grown man? Is a bear truly threatening your family? Sit out on the deck one night with a big ole jar of honey and when he walks up to the rail, scream "HE'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!" like a little girl and shoot him in the face. Either that, or take down the birdfeeders and other food sources for a while, and he should leave. But if he is really a threat, as you seem to think he is, get rid of it once and for all.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

I'll say it again. The Bear isn't the problem.

If you don't understand then go find a vanity mirror and stare into it for a while until the real problem becomes clear to you.

Andre had a yearling bear hanging around his place a couple years ago from early spring til fall. Against all advice he thought it a wise idea to feed and house his spirit brother. Brother bear had a nice bed of wheat straw under the porch and the finest of leftovers and kibble. Andre does a little commercial fishing so there was a good supply of fish byproducts as well. All was well until bear ripped off the side of his house to get at a bees nest. Bear started to get a bit aggressive as he got bigger. Growling at folks and just being a grouchy kinda bear. Andre went to giving that bear a good talking to and a swat on the snout so the bear stands up and takes a swipe at Andre. Andre heads in to dodge and got some sleeping aids. Feeds up poor bear. Bear goes to sleep and gets loaded on a trailer for trip to a dump 40 miles down the road. Bear went from a Poor Welfare Reservation Bear to A Dump Bear in just hours.

    And yes Andre feeds birds.

Spent some time at the SW Field Research Station in the Chiricahuas in AZ. They are a major birding destination and are noted for their hummingbirds and songbirds and have hummingbird and birdseed feeders all over the campus. If a bear is in the area and they wake up to trashed bird feeders, they start to take the feeders down each evening and bring them out in the daytime.

I saw a big bear one night about a half mile from the station and the next morning all the feeders were trashed. They seemed accustomed to replacing them and had some spares and then started taking them down at night again.

Last year I was close to doing that with mine because of all the trash pandas but decided instead to only put one day's worth of seed in them every morning. And once the cowbirds arrive, it's no use for me to maintain the feeders as the cowbirds empty them way too fast for me to keep them full.

I hate a cowbird. Hate. They do the same to me, but my nyger seed is still working on the goldfinches, the suet is bringing lots of stuff, and the chipping sparrows are still happy.

I forget the name, but they make a "hotsauce" to put on crops, etc, it will burn your ass just from contact with whatever you put it on weeks later. Id try that on the feeders....since you now have to be all humane and such.

We had one hanging around moose camp one year , those in the know figured him to be 400-450 pounds.By hanging around I mean 30 -40 ft or closer at times. He didn't mess with anything in camp but it was a bit disconcerting to say the least. He'd sleep back of the tipi on my side. I figure he was thinking Indian taco tonight.
After 2 days of that I told boss man the bear gots to go. He gets out a ham , sliced off a good hunk , walks to the bear that's about 15 feet away. Talked to him a bit in Ojibway , told him he had to leave as he was making the Mohawks a bit nervous and tossed him the ham.The bear had a sniff of it let out a small "woof" picked it up and sauntered away never to be seen again. Weirdest thing I ever experienced. You need a fella like that. Our Ojibway pals are all Bear Clan.
    Cool, Harv.

Dude called the local news because he wanted others to be "aware"...man, I though I'd heard it all. Hope you enjoy your 9 seconds of fame. Nothing like the local news' ability to make mountains out of mole hills and sensationalize things to stir up an already fearful public.
