I think strutter decoys are an issue. Make it way too easy.
I noticed the last couple days the turkeys have split up and seeing singles in fields. I even heard a loud mouth gobbler this afternoon, a dog will bark and he’ll fire off. May be time to put some chair time in. FYI: got a crew thinning volunteer pines by hand and straw hat said they killed (3) rattlers today. So watch your step.

Ramblin Rooster, I'm a good ways north off you, but, not far off the Saluda. Our property has been void of gobbles all season except for 1 bird in 5 hunts. Until this year, I would almost guaranteed hear at least one bird every time I go. People may be baiting, but, our food plots are good enough to keep turkeys on our land, so, I don't think baiting is the primary problem. I'm hoping it's just a cycling thing and they just have moved around and aren't on our land. I personally think the population is way down and there are just a lot less turkeys in my neck of the woods. Around home, 20 minutes away, I used to see a big flock of turkeys regularly. It's been two years since I've seen anything bigger than 6 or 7 birds in that same area and it's rare to see them. I am getting a coyote(s) pretty regular on camera, so, I hope they've just pushed the birds off our tract and my theory of "less birds" is wrong. I've got to fix the coyote problem ASAP. Still, it's pretty discouraging to see a tract go from super productive to just nothing in a couple of years.
It keeps getting worse on some public land I hunt. I just thought last year I didn't hear any, well this year is even worse. You used to could ride down a road and hear turks about every where you stopped. Now you lucky if you hear one. Hope it gets better cuz this is nasty!!
