    Default Winchester 101

Anybody on here own one and if so how do you like it?

I looked at one this past week at BPS and liked the feel of it. I think they were wanting $1300 for the sporting version and the field model was around $1100.
How does it compare to other o/u in the same price range?

I own an older 20 gauge skeet model. I love it.

    Own an old 12ga skeet/skeet, it’s a good gun.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

The older ones were really nice, but I don't know anything about the newer ones.

Old ones were very good, comparable to Citoris, don't know who is making the new ones, could be Miroku.

Same here, but keep thinking about having thin-wall chokes installed so it would be more practical. The skeet chokes were fine when hunting quail behind setters, but not much else.

I know little to nothing about the new ones, but the old ones were/are preferable to most of the earlier model Citories, IMO.

Not familiar with Miroku, if they are making them is that a good or bad thing?

Miroku is a Jap company that made Charles Daleys and 101's , sister company to the one that made Citoris years ago.All are very similar to the point of a few parts are interchangeable if I remember correctly. I know that that choke tubes on 101's and Citoris are interchangable, Win choke or investor or WC + or Invector +.

The 101's are decent guns and can be found at good value. Biggest problem I've seen with them is top rib separating from the barrels and required relaying the rib. I've seen this occur on 3 different 101's (all were shot a bunch) and would carefully inspect any I might consider to make sure the rib is fine and make sure a gun hack hasn't tried to repair with epoxy or jbweld.

A Winchester 101 Quail Special 20ga is the best pointing shotgun that I have ever shot. I had 2 of them in the late 90s-early 2000s. Wish I would have kept at least one.

I don't know squat about over/under shotguns, but every time one of you types "Citoris," I think I read "clitoris," and I giggle a little.
