That's good to see. I worked at a place that does a lot of management for them, pretty neat birds.

RCWs are great until you find them nesting on your property.

Glad you got to go there, contract employees were not allowed. I'm jealous but glad the powers to be at NS allowed interns, hope it was good for you.

I think there is at least one hanging around my yard. Seen him from a distance after I heard it. I’ll have to keep the binoculars handy.

I have said this before on here... pro tip... wherever they manage for the woodpecker, the wild quail will follow.

Thanks, it was a good time for sure. Was fortunate enough to be able to fish and hunt some out there as well. Definitely have some memories from that place.

Well, Brosnan Forest is managing for RCWs better than anyone and they don't have much in the way of wild quail. I share about a mile and a half of fence with them and all I see are stupid, leftover released birds. I don't hear a lot of whistling during the summer either. They do have ideal habitat for wild quail but the birds just aren't there.

Side note: First deer I killed with a bow, back around 92 or 93, was at Brosnan Forest.
