Default dolphin, mahi, dorado......whatever your want to call them

What is your best setup to catch them? I know everyone has their special rod or lure, so curious to hear about it.

Most anyone that has spent enough time dragging bait for them will tell you.....

It’s not about islanders, witches, chuggers, poppers, or cedar plugs.

    It’s not about colors.

It’s about finding a good piece of water.

You find the right edge, temp break, or weed line with a bunch of fish, and you can fill the box dragging a flip flop, a dildo, and a flattened beach ball.

Tie the first one off and the mouse trap applies.

A 6/0 Circle hook tied to the 30# Floro leader, tied to 30-50# braid via a PR/CA/Albright/Uni on a Shimano Stradic/Sustain/Sargosa 8000 to a 7'0" Terez with a chunk of meat on it. Flipped out on the edge of a weed mat. When they get wise on that one, tie on a popper or a flutter jig.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

True. My buddy had his trout rod on the boat once for whatever reason with an electric chicken grub tied on. Needless to say we trolled past a piece of trash, and there was about a 20 lb dolphin sitting under it and my buddy tossed that grub to it, and about got spooled before he pulled the hook.

They spend damn near every hour of every day, eating whatever they can gobble down.
I’ve tied an empty beer can on and had em nail it, I feel certain Gbelly could get one to eat a cricket.

Salty’s method is highly productive if you find a big weed mat or a piece of debri.

Buzz baits on a bass rod work well too.

Yeah if you don’t have white braid spooled on your trolling rods you might as well go home.

When pitching/chunking make sure you leave one in the water at all times. Keep throwing in chunks too. I can tolerate trolling just so long. I love to find them piled up around weed lines and debris. Action is fast and furious.
