    Default Aggressive? Gator

I've got a 6 to 7 foot gator in the pond behind our house. He is very curious, to a point of being aggressive. We have lots of children here, all ages. I'm considering calling a trapper or whomever to have him removed. Trouble is, everybody likes seeing him.
I fish there occasionally and he has come up to me several times. Yesterday he was chasing my bait and coming right up to my feet. I have a feeling people have fed this little guy and he is learning.
I thought I would ask y'all what you thought. Can I rearrange his thinking by harassing him right back or will his behavior only become more aggressive?
    Thanks

Because so many people are aware of him, I'd call DNR and have him removed
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

If he isn’t scared of you, get him gone.

DNR isn't going to come remove a 6-7 footer typically, I know from experience. They will ask you to have a certified trapper handle it, and they will need a permit. I'm sure you have a few in your area if you live anywhere in the SC lowcountry.

It depends on your neighborhood and such how its handled. Some places have tags issued to individuals that have the "rights" to hunt/remove gators from that area. If you call your h.o.a., or some local governing body they will send that individual to remove it. That's part of their job when they get those tags and they usually have a target size to remove and it sounds like yours may fit the bill from what I have heard. If its private property, you can get the tag and remove it yourself usually. Id start with a call to DNR and find out what they can do or if they may reference you to somewhere/someone else.

A whole chicken on a big shark hook on a 4 foot dog chain attached to a few cement blocks in 6 feet of water. No one will ever see him again.

I’d get it removed if the pond belongs to you. If it’s a neighborhood pond I’d call the HOA

This, especially since it has been posted on the Web.

If you own the pond, you can be issued a permit to remove him yourself.

With a high powered rifle to his face, of course.

A "friend' tells me to use a whole fryer from the grocery store. Let it sit out on the picnic table a day or so, then go fishing.

Next time you fishing, use a lure with big treble hooks, let him get it and count 10 Mississippi , then KVD his ass . Hold tight, if line breaks and lure in his mouth. Game over, he will leave or die.

I kinda like the little fart, although he's awful cocky. All my time in the Louisiana bayous, I never so much as saw one. Heard a few run into the water when I got close. This one is definitely habituated to people. I guess I don't need a Disney world episode to happen here. Hell, I even have a 6 and 8 year old that are just smart enough to tantalize him and get bit or worse.
I like the chicken idea and the high power to the face is my favorite. Cep the town folk get perty jumpy when you start launching lead around here. I specially like the idea of KVDing him and seeing how long it would take to for him to chew through 20 pound braid. I've got a gig I made for gigging carp and gar that would put a nice hole in his medulla oblongata too. Probably aughta grind the barb off of it first. Anyway, thanks again for the insight fellas.
Sad to say I have a call in to the DNR. We'll see where that gets me.

I’m glad your gator isn’t killing folks like these gentle pit bulls do.

Likes a gator = Yankee for fucking sure
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

He's not scared because someone has already been feeding him.

    He needs to go.
