    Default Call Acquisitions

Cannot speak for anyone else but with the season less than 30 days away I am starting to get a bit antsy. I figured one good way to pass the time was too see any new calls guys may have picked up. I can appreciate any and all types of calls. What new calls have you acquired since last year?

Personally I have not gotten many but I have picked up a Snakewood/Butternut box call by Jody Harrison, a Cocobolo trumpet by Kenny Pedelahore, a Blue Mahoe tube call by Jack Lewis, and a few strikers from Mr. Harold Fowler, tulipwood, black locust, and Alaskan Yellow Cedar.

I know some have gotten some awesome calls and I hope they will share!

Where is 2th? I am excited to see the exquisite pictures he posts of all his new and exotic calls....

Picked up an Eastern Assassin box by Jim Shelley and an SS Custom field grade box. Can't wait to try em both in another month.

All I got new was the Shoemaker box that Wendell picked up for me at Unicoi. Black limba box and don't recall the lid right off hand. Very pleased with it and expect it will hunt well. Will post a pic when it draws blood.

Asked Wendell today about getting a box made from the big holly I cut for him off my Grandfather's farm some years back and will probably end up doing some of the work on it under his guidance. Killed the first tom off the place about 75 yards from that holly tree. Anyway, that might be an addition to this season's calls if there is time, another holly box with a purple heart lid, jatoba lid or something or other that ends up sounding good. That's about it.

Mr. Al and Josh make a great box call. I have a Maple/Spanish Cedar. It has been a good one for me. Look forward to seeing the new box from Mr. Wendell.

When bud left Betty back in the early 80s she had a fling with billy buice and they had a son nobody knows about bc he looks like a white ceelo green (pseudo midget) and I guess it was embarrassing. This kid turns out one call every 3 years. He's the Hitori Hanzo of call makers. He made me a pot call out of vibranium and a striker out of an extinct mastadons dick bone that sounds sweet!

I picked up a ceramic and a glass pot from Paul Durham and a Marlin Watkins fiddle box that I've always wanted. I also got an aluminum pot from Matt Vancise and an all Delrin adjustable trumpet from Gene Gardner, not pictured. I have a little bit of a problem.

Picked up my first trumpet from Mr Billy Buice. Was a pleasure just talking with him on the phone. I hope one day to call up a longbeard with it. Next season is the goal, as per my progress this past week or so, this year is out of the question .

I'm hoping that Wendell finishes up my box call before the season starts, he said that he thought it would be but I haven't heard anything yet. Thanks for getting me in touch Theron

dont think like that. keep it around your neck every minute you can and practice. some good handwritten tips on this site (nitro i think) will help. Good thing about Billy's calls is that you can get different mouthpieces and try them as well. I have a square end delrin mountpiece from billy that I like. also have the #2, #3, #4

Very nice! I have been doing the same with my oldest since he was born. Got him a matching tube set in Blue Mahoe this year, one is the twin to the one I posted. Will start in August on my youngest boy.
