    Default Turkey Trial Regulations Extended

I think the House passed legislation today to extend the trial season dates/limits for an additional two years. I don't think there was a peep of input from DNR concerning either the results of 3+ years of paid research or 2 years of the trial regulations. Why it was done now instead of as outlined in the original legislation is a little aggravating, but so much for the "Sunset Clause".

Do you know if they discussed banning male turkey decoys?

Pretty sure they did not. This was specifically about the trial regulations from before.....

Look he's doing everything he can in his power to do everything he can for turkeys.

I can't get into it but lemme just say this sunset clause extension couldn't have been extended right in the face of a nicer guy

Thanks for the update Tuffy. Many said this is how it would go.

Yep, no surprise here......they are never going to review it nor will we ever see any data from studies to change the current harvest reg's. We could double in the number of turkeys in SC and you'll never see a 5 bird limit again.

I’d bet money that the next change made in regards to turkey season will be 10 less days and a limit of 2. We’ll never see 5 again.

So the sunset clause has nothing to do with sunset. I should've known that, my bad.

You will see 3 & 30 days. Getting in the director, directors of board and legislators ears and loudly at present. Worst the 2 year in lieu of one more hinged on printing the reg book.

Statewide or just the upstate? So after 5 years we will be right back where we started except - 2 birds. Could have saved some dollars and just cut the limit from the get go.

You got it, SCNDR stated to me this morning , they want 30 day season and 3 birds. Timeline for sunset clause extension resulted from this series.. 1. Report not complete. 2. Legislative session meeting time and 3. Time enough to get into rules and regs. Truly sucks being a Legislative state period when it comes to wildlife.

Working on somethings at the moment but seems to be just gas bubbles rising and they smell like Methane.
