It appears removing prayer & corporal punishment and replacing with meds has brought us here.

Sad stuff. I am certainly getting tired of these shootings. However, so long as people hold the ideal that man is inherently good, there is not even a reason to debate the subject of guns, we will never be able to agree on anything.

What could be done? Laws only affect law abiding people. Would/could a law have stopped this?

If there were prior threats made by this nut that were brushed off, then someone should be in a sling.

Nothing, none and that is my point (maybe you missed it or i wasn't clear enough in my op). It is disheartening to see the evil things that humans can do to each other. But, we have done these things since the dawn of time, whether with a rock, knife, gun or bomb (my original point that man is inherently bad, not good like the vast majority of liberals and gun control advocates believe).

Plenty coming out on the news that there were plenty of signs and threats coming from the SOB.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I'll add this to my original post, while not 'laws' I think that we need to put much more emphasis on being able to discuss, call out, diagnose and treat (whether that is with meds, counseling or being put into a facility) individuals who clearly show the signs that all of these shooters show.

Schools can be locked, mental health treated seriously, etc etc......These things can be done but people will get their "feelings" hurt but lives will be saved!

Train, qualify and arm teachers and staff.

The death toll would have been much less if an armed member of the school staff could have leaned out from behind cover and popped his noggin. Gun Free Zones should not include schools , malls, churches or other high value target areas.

You will never stop it all. Evil will always be around. I still believe these video games have something to do with it. There is no way the games today do not desensitize kids to violence. You can not spend as much time as they do on game systems and there not be an impact. They always use an "assault" type gun why? Because it's what they use in the games and it causes the most damage in there games. They don't use a weapon that would be a much more effective at close range because they actually know nothing about firearms. Just imagine the damage that could be inflicted if you walked in a school or mall with a 3 shotguns, extended tubes, and buckshot. Thank God nobody has done it.

Sounds like he had been expelled and there were numerous issues with threats made to students in the past.
The school even sent out an email about the guy making threats to other students the year before, but nothing solid was ever done about it. As long as this type of non-action repeats itself, these evil souls will do their thing.

We don’t have a gun problem, this kid was adopted his adopted father died when he was younger and his mother had just passed away. He was taken in by a friends family who apparently weren’t equipped to deal with this kids issues. He wasn’t equipped to deal with society at 19 and was essentially on his own with no role model and no one to turn to. I honestly believe if there was a program or person to step up this could have been avoided. The left won’t point this out, which I always thought was the core of their beliefs.

I have a question for y'all. My son goes to private school. The lower school (pre3k-2nd grade) has a fence around it and the gate is shut and each classroom is locked at 8am when class starts. I don't know about the upper school as I never go there. Is this normal? I like it.

My children or in private school as well and I have address security as I think more can be done. Security at schools around the country has got to be improved to deal with these metal whack jobs!

I agree but security must be increased at schools! Why are there not checkpoints for kids coming in and out of school?

    This nails it.

The school doors are locked at our school. The intent is to force people to go through the office.

That was my first thought when I read the story as well. How did he get in? But you have to remember he went to school there (presumably for 4 years). He knew the school well and I'm sure he knew how to get in. Not to mention it's easy for him to blend in.

He dropped his weapons and walked out with the other students. Wouldn't have been hard for him to do the same to get in.

All one has to do is look at our Constitution for the answer. Just look for the common denominator in the vast majority of these shootings.
