How about the tungsten matrix? Can the barrels handle that?

Very nice, will. Look forward to watching you kill some ducks with it.

They are fantastic guns. I have only shot ducks with my mag 12 and I have a jap barrel on it so I can change chokes. That being said, just like I told you about my other older guns, I shoot steel thru them without a guilty thought. I know the mod 12s and a few other old guns only see a box a season at most shot thru them.

Anyhow congrats again. To me, there is not a finer auto than a Belgium browning

Yep but it is hard to find and almost three times as much as the Bismuth. If cost and availability weren't the issues, everyone would be shooting Tungsten Matrix loads.

I do love the browning auto 5's as well as the Winchester m12's. I'm looking hard for a jap magnum 20 with choke tubes if anyone knows where one is

According to the serial number it's a Light Twenty; the top number is 7Z.

    1958 – 1967 The single digit precedes the S and R. 8S,8R = 1958, 9S, = 1959, 0S = 1960, 7S =1967

***1958-1977*** FN High Grade Lightweight Series May include the letters following the serial number "SAC,B,F,N,Z" S/V p81
***1958 #001-17595 These will have a small two digit (year 59 = 1959) number following the serial number. Some have shown up with the entire year stamped instead of the two digit year code.

    ***1966 - 1977
    ***17595 - 26022

Thanks, I wanted to bring it the last day we hunted but could not find the damn plug. I am looking forward to shooting it some more.

My light twenty is a 75. My birth year. That's when Grandaddy bought it.

I stand corrected. Unlike the "Twelve" and "Light Twelve", only one model of 20ga. was made. Browning started stamping "Light Twenty" on the receivers in 1973. Regardless, it is a beautiful gun to be cherished. I, too, shoot my fathers "Light Twenty" in the dove field.

They are beautiful guns. I have never liked shooting the A5s, but as a kid, the only shotgun I remember my Daddy shooting was his Sweet 16. He loved to quail hunt, so when I was a little older and able, I bought him a Jap A5 Light 20 with a 28" barrel and a 22" barrel. He still shoots both from time to time.

That makes two of us. I've missed a few on Gunbroker. The Invectors are hard to find.

Maybe my 20 is a 1958?........The top numbers are 1Z and the last two in the serial number is 58

The barrel should be marked for choke near the address. *=Full,*-= Imp. Mod.,**=Mod.,**=Imp.Cly.,**$= skeet and ***=Cly.
I also just read on a Browning forum to not shoot steel only if the barrel is marked * meaning full choke.

    1Z would be a 1961 Light Twenty

Thanks, and "yes" I just found it. The S denotes Sweet 16 and the serial range is 1955..........both are older than I thought
