How many of y’all soak your catfish in milk/butter milk before frying? Had the debate at work today about this. I never have and neither did my folks. These guys are swearing by it...Educate me.

I don't know anyone that soaks fish in milk either. In fact, I have never even heard of doing that.

Guess it helps take the fish taste out. I just clean my fish good and cut the red meat out. Never had any problems.

I soak mine in buttermilk and Texas Pete. Mix it till it looks like Pepto. Then batter with House Autry medium hot. My turkey nuggets get the indentical treatment. No complaints for years.

I’ll have to try the buttermilk and Texas Pete.

Past few years we’ve been soaking our nuggets in swamp sauce. Unfortunately we’ve been unable to find it here lately IGA was the only place we could get it and they’re out.

Edit to say: If it was just me eatin, I’d just batter a filet in house autry and have a sandwich. But the wife likes it better soaked for added flavor.
