That's the tightest pattern I've seen out of HW #7s

Not only that. He did not chase the pattern around. it is a good pattern and POI.
I felt the shot was a little low but I am very happy with it. It's a nice and evenly spaced pattern, but i imagine close up there is ZERO room for error. I may look around after the season and find a slightly less restrictive pattern. Gotta set up the FF3 on my A400. It has a Jebs .655 in it . I have some heavy weight #7's and some mag blends to try out of it. Should have those results next week.

I got a GREAT hunting pattern with the Remington super full choke and HW 7's. Its like 20 bucks if not cheaper.
That is a knot at 15 yards!

That's very nice. I think it might be the best pattern I've seen out of that load also. My little Rem SPS-T 20 will get +/- 210, but that's about it. Sadly, I can't see the sights on that gun any more.

Sounds like two fun projects. Hope you tag birds with both of them.
I have an a400 with a FF3 on it in 20 gauge set up for tss. I think the choke is a Carlson and it only does 250 in the 10" at 40 yards. I know I can go tighter, but I like the pattern.
DJP, when you were sighting in the ff3, did you start with some cheap shells and get it on the money then switch to your TSS? Reason i ask is i assume the POI is gonna change going from the cheapies to the 3.5's. Did you notice a huge diff or was it pretty close?

If the shotgun shoots to point-of-aim, just lock the gun in a cradle, look down the rib at a slightly distant point, then set the dot to look at the same point. Using that method(like bore-sighting a rifle), I can get it pretty close and it saves shells in the set-up.
Sometimes, you can see down the rib thru the glass on the dot sight. If so, you just line the dot up straight down the rib and almost the same distance above the rib as the sight sits.

That'll work.

To answer the question that you actually asked...I do always shoot a couple of field loads to make sure before I go to the good stuff. Just try to match the speed of the shells, if you can.

Yes sir, fine blend of devastation.

That is a rifle. You pull that sucker 7" and that turkey will walk. Otherwise he ain't got no head.
#8 dove shells at 10' for me on the FF3. Shot at 1" or so dots till I was blowing them out the went to about 20yd, then hunting loads at range.
