I recommend getting knocked out before you get your wisdom teeth yanked out. Had the same problem as Mars a few years back, molar shattered when surgeon tried pulling. Glad I wasn't awake for that or digging out bone fragments.

I remember calling Toof and telling him my lower jaw was killing me, it's time to do something. He sent me next door to see the surgeon dentist (insert technical name). That guy was cool. he looked in my mouth and I'll never forget what he said.... "amazing what pain will cause a grown man to do" He gave me antibiotics to clear up the infection. I went in a week later on Friday, he gave me a shot and I woke up in the car or thats where I remember coming to. I had a little baggy with what was left of my wisdom teeth. By Sunday I was hell on wheels again. I should have went when I noticed something wasn't right, it really wasn't much to it.

"roots wrapped around my jaw bone"
"dentist had to put his knee on my chest to get it out"
or how bout the lady who carries an epi pen (from her MD husband) to dental appointments because she is allergic to epinephrine...

I had my wisdom teeth cut out when I was in high school. I do remember waking up and hearing a crunching sound during the procedure, but that is it. Other than that, my jaw was sore for a few days, but no real pain.

And I've had one kidney stone, not to long ago, and one major tooth ache. I will take the tooth ache over a kidney stone any day.

It took seven hours. Of course it was during the snow storm when all his help went to pick their kids up from school because they had to close early. But he kept playing on his damn phone sayin', "STRIPASWHIPTURBOGLENN", or something like that under his breath, which wasn't no damn febreeze commercial either, cause he went to lunch and had hot dogs somewhere, while I was still in the chair.

No knee in my chest but two assistants grabbed and held my head so he could get a little more torque.

And I've been told that a specialist has to do the root canal on that one tooth. My dentite won't do it. Damn at all the specialists.

Ask him if you can get in on the referral fees. If so, keep his number.
