Got about a 2 acre field that is in kudzu right now. What do I need to do to get rid of it? Permanently if possible

Goats.
Mower.
Glysophate.
Let it green up a little. Spray it. Mow it. Keep it mowed.

It grows too fast to be hardy so it’s easy to kill. And it has to grow high to live so mowing will kill it as well.
will I have to pull the roots up to kill it permanently?

Kudzu is the perfect invasive. It reproduces multiple ways. Persists after repeated defoliation. Then if you do "get rid of it" , every single root crown has to be killed or it comes back. Anyways, best of luck.

Burn now to get the runners going into the trees then plan to spray often this growing season. You can get rid of it in the trees, but it won’t be easy like it is in a field.
thought about mowing it, then lightly grading the whole field to hopefully pushing up most of the root balls into a big pile and burning them

I think the Japanese eat it.
I mean if you get some pork fat
Burn the field to knock back some of the other vegetation and better expose the kudzu. In late summer spray Milestone. It's expensive but works. Within two week you'll be able to see what you missed. Come back and spray what you missed. Repeat process the following year to kill any remaining kudzu.
