    Default Trapping

With work, snow, and rain i have not set traps all year. Going to set tomorrow. Just wondering how everybody was doing. I am going to try and hit it hard over the next month. Any lure that has been killing it. I will start with my usuals. Violator 7 and Voodoo.

I just got my traps out this past weekend. The weather was main reason I waited until now. So far 2 catches after the first night. 1 small yote and 1 mutt dog puppy (that I released). I use Caven's Hiawatha Valley predator bait with some Yodel dog lure.

I'm going to put more out this weekend.

On one place Powder river paste was killing it.
On the other, dirtholes weren't touched, but voodoo caught 5 yotes and a pig(literally)

That Violator 7 should be a good cover scent while deer hunting....

Ricky - I want to see you post up a video like this guy. Not sure why he is relocating instead of dispatching...but he has nads the size of basketballs.

Dog placement on coyote trapping. I have always put the dog at the 12 oclock position. Had a buddy tell me he likes it at 3. Never thought about it. What is yalls method and reasoning?

I’ve been seeing that on some of the videos I’ve been watching.

Dog at 12 to 1 o'clock position in front of bait in reference to the direction you expect target animal to approach... Reasoning being that jaws would spring up and catch front / rear of pads on leg instead of sides of leg.

Honestly though it doesn't really matter that much...I have a trapping partner that's sets all kind of ways, and he catches plenty.

Location of set and scent control are clearly the most important...

I agree with Swift Strike and set mine as he mentioned above usually in the 1 o'clockish position.

Also I saw this video recently and thought it was a pretty good "quick" explanation on a Dirt Hole Set.
