    Default .224 valkyrie

Over the past few months I've seen a few people ask about building a long range gun on a budget. The .224 looks really good if it takes off. Similar ballistics as a 6.5 at the cost of a .223. What do y'all think?

Will let you know. I’m waiting on a barrel. Should be a stud in an AR 15.

I happen to know that your friendly neighborhood firearms manufacturer will be showing off some .224V goodness in Vegas next week.

I wonder how the barrel life will be.

There are 4-5 videos on YouTube of various people testing the JP rifle that they built for it. So far it's been pretty impressive. I know that JP has barrels for it. Savage built a rifle for it as well.

Did you get the 18 or 20? I am going to wait a little while and see if the prices drop any.

Got the 20 and the bcg for 249. Which I didn’t think was bad.

My buddy got a CMMG 24” 1/7 barrel and built one. We’ve been playing with it for a couple trips. I can say I’m very impressed with the cartridge. He’s getting 3/4”-1” MOA with the FGMM 90gr. We were hitting the 10” plate @ 1000 3 out of 5 times, the misses were barely off the plate. That’s with the cheap CMMG barrel.

I’m waiting on Jamie to get an order in, I may just have to build one. I want to see what a good barrel will do.

I'm waiting on a 1-6.5 twist barrel from Bartlein. I'm gonna get Steve Roe at Apache machine to chamber it for me.
Mark, Brian and Jamie are running them at Wheaton next weekend. Jamie built the barrels from a couple of Bartlein blanks. Those boys will be tough to handle in the gas gun division.

After shooting with Tha Dick and Biggie1000 over the weekend, the long range bug has bitten me. Prior to this trip the farthest I'd shot was 450 but Mark has me out to 1k in no time. I've got my eye on the .224 and would love to get my hands on one at the range. I am also looking at a 6.5c. Thanks to Tha Dick for a great time and a lot of helpful tips.
I take an PLB in the shower with me. Can't ever be too safe.

Whats it like to live w/o the Internet? Not bad, I get photos of your mom thought the mail....

I've never done any drugs, but I bet it's as addictive as long range shooting.

LaRue Tactical is now offering the Ultimate Upper Kit with a 20" 224 Valkyrie option. Essentially a kit with all the parts except a stripped lower for $792. They'll assemble the upper for an additional $199 if you want.

Plus, if you order the kit, they'll sell you THEIR stripped lower for $199 if you want a gun with all LaRue parts.
