Shorthairs are my favorite breed and I've had them for years. In the face of every dog I see, I can see a resemblance to one of the dogs I've had. I love to see others discover what fun dogs they are. They'll do anything for you if you can figure out how to explain it to them.
Finding a good fitting vest is hard. Most vests are made for Labs and have to be modified to come close to fitting a shorthair. There's a company that makes medical gear with neoprene that will make custom fitted vests for a decent price. I think I paid around $60 and they have all fit my dogs like tailor made wetsuits. Upland birds, Ike would wear one collar and Mickey the other. Mickey broke on a deer, Ike was locked on a bird. I couldn’t figure out why Ike hopped every time I shocked Mickey until I realized dad had mixed up the collars. Mickey hit the brakes and Ike never broke his point. That little GSP was tough as nails, he just held you to a higher standard of shooting.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
You might take out a dozen before they drag you from your home and skull fuck you to death. Marsh Chicken 6/21/2013
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
