Default Christmas Trees for fish structure

I normally tie a brick in the middle of the tree and drop it in. I'd love to have a few standing up vertically rather than laying on the bottom.

I was thinking a shallow tub with concrete in it and sticking the tree(s) out the top. Then dropping it in and hoping between the concrete and the tree trying to float that it would stand up. Anyone ever tried something like this?

Tie a milk jug in the top. Thats what we do, or a two liter. They will stand up.

Edit: Obviously you would have to tie the brick at the bottom, Id suggest a cinder block at least.

I know a good many crappie fisherman that lay theirs down, or thats how they want them. My grandad has always stood his up, and thats how ive always done mine as well. Idk which way is better, honestly. Ive caught more on them standing up only because ive fished more that way.

Cinder block. Stick the tree trunk through hole. Put a board on the bottom and add a screw through it into the tree trunk.

Stand it up upside down. Bottle on trunk. Weight wired through the top.

Ive tried this. Ive found the tree will still fall over depending what it lands on and waves off boats will push them over as well.

So you're putting a weight on the bottom and a float on the top? I think these are dry enough that they will float already. At least eventually.

As for vertical vs horizontal, I would think vertical structure would be best so that they could move up and down the water column.

Congrats guys. You just made throwing a dead tree into a body of water a complicate matter.

If that's complicated to you maybe you should stick to buying fish and staying away from motorized equipment. Just a thought

    I followed along just fine.

What I got is put a float on the top rather than try to make a pedestal type bottom. And sounds easier than my method.

    Thanks all

Yes. Idk if they float as soon as you put them in the water or not. But they wont over time. Yes vertically is the way to go.

Your reading comprehension is usually better than that. Again, I wasn't the one that started a topic on how to sink a tree in a pond.

"Ironic" is not the word I was thinking, but it works too. And is more politically correct.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-
