Looking at buying 70 acres down the street and plan on building a steel building with living quarters to keep costs/maintenance down. Looking at erecting a 40x40 and a 40x60 in an L shape with a garage on one end. Looking for some ideas on a simple floor plan. Seems that floor plans are tougher to find on the internet for simple layouts like I’m planning on building

I have a friend that did something like you are talking about. There is nothing fancy about it. He built it, then put his house on the market. Once his house sold, they moved into it while they built a new house.

Look up Beaver Creek Construction on facebook. They just finished a project exactly like you're describing.

The county you plan to build in will dictate the type of "plans" you must submit. Some places don't read, just approve. Some places will make a PE pull his flippin' hair out.

I've done some for guys on here. I don't love to do it. I've never been paid (I did them as favors).

I was in the same boat as you and searched "barndominium floor plans" to find the plans I used.

I would recommend you buy a cheap CAD program for house designs or try it yourself with Sketchup free(https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free).
