    Default Side by Side

Helping get my father into a side by side for the farm. I have only used a Polaris Ranger and a Honda Pioneer. Both worked well In my opinion. However, I don’t know about known issues or costly maintanece that might be necessary. At the end of the day, my dad will seriously beat the devil out of it. Does anyone have any opinions on those machines or suggest any alternatives?

Ranger. I know quite a few people that have them 1 or 2 of them abuse the shit out of em. One guy pulls a 4 round bale trailer with round bales on it from his house to his farm, about 5 miles away.

If my buddy Boozer (different guy) can't break a Ranger, he'll be fine in a Ranger.

That sounds like a workhorse. Something that could do that would serve him well.

We, no shit, put the dog box in that Ranger, fill it up with dogs, and then pile about 8 guys on that thing and drive it to hell and back.

    It does fine.

    Tough ass machine.

I've enjoyed our Pioneer 700-4. I've drug huge trees, heavy trailers, and loaded the hell outta the bed.

My only complaint is the front shocks, but these can be upgraded using Commander factory shocks; I have not done this yet.

The ride is good, the versatility awesome, and...well, it's a HONDA!

My only valid complaint is that with the back seats flipped up, bed space is minimal. There are aftermarket bed extenders available, though.

Kubota RTV-X900. We have 5 of them in our fleet a couple are a few years old now. No problems so far and seem to be pretty damn tough.

Cause you wont be able to do either with a RTV... But they are strong as goat piss. Just not fast and the hydrostat will just about throw you through the windshield when you let off the gas.

I bought a JD Gator 625i in ‘14, got a helluva deal on it. I’ve beaten the piss out of it. Towed way over it’s rating, pulled trucks out, filled the bed with corn, waded through mud over the floor boards etc. it isn’t the best, strongest or fastest but it cranks up every time and does what is needed. I’d look at the 825i over the 625i though, more power and it’ll run 45 or so.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

“That 45 or so” is no joke! I’ve had one up to about 46-47 on the highway. And we used one farming every single day. Beat the shit out of it and it never missed!
