we are not going. I am upset about it....i admit that. Son1 is upset. Son2 and daughter0 dont really care. Wife is going out of town so the kids and I plan to camp at the farm and hunt ducks there....after daughters bball game friday night. The boys are bringing a couple of buddies and plan to sleep in the tack house on blow up mattresses next to the fire. Lauren and the dogs and I plan to set up a tent on the bluff above the creek.
We will take Griffin (puppy) with us. we call him Grover, by the way. After the duck hunt, both boys have church basketball playoff games at 12:30 and 13:30. For whatever reason, they play for different churches. So, they are happy they will at least be able to play in their respective games....
As an aside, Donnelley has ducks. I talked to a very nice manager there by the name of Daniel. He gave me all sorts of great info. I only wish we could make it work....but at least we have given another youth a chance to have what I would consider an enjoyable hunt....on top of a great adventure. My boys have hunted Donnelley twice and know what they are missing.
Life can be complicated at times....
(edited to add for spur hunter: and maybe I should've thought about how complicated it can be when I signed up for a random draw hunt months ago.....)
