Default New motor time. Opinions please

Its time for a new motor. 20 or 25. I've been through 2 two stroke Mercury 20s which were completely badass, and most recently, a 2 stroke Evinrude 25 that has been OK, but is now worn out. A little on-line shopping shows that Evinrudes and Yamahas run about the same price. The Mercuries run a good bit cheaper. Are the current Mercuries WAS? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I have owned a Yamaha 150, 90 and 70 never a problem. I've always used non ethanol gas.

If going new there is really only one choice in 25 hp. Tohatsu. I have driven most 25hp 2 and 4 stroke motors. That tohatsu 4 stroke 25hp is a bad little machine.

I'm thinking new. I'd like this to be the last 20 - 25 I ever buy.

JBK nailed it. It will run circles around the new yamaha. Ive been mighty tempted to sell my 2 stroke 25's for one.

Yamaha. I've owned them all and Yamaha has been the most reliable.

Yamaha 4 stroke is the Honda of 4wheelers, the vasectomy of birth control, the African America of rythym, the Asian of math.

Until you get to the higher HP- they’ve fallen in recent years. That new 25 is badass though... got 20 hours on one

I stand corrected. I have not been in a boat with the new F25C yamaha on the back. Unless yamaha did something too there gear ratio I'm still not sure they can compete with the tohatsu.

Lighter than what, the previous model Yamaha or the Tohatsu?
