You going to taxidermitize it? If not, I’ll take it.

I'm going out a limb and say wood duck x mottled. But honestly, not really sure...

Is there anyone like at den who can take DNA samples to see for sure. I figured den would like to know what ducks are hybridizing.

Neat hybrid for sure, can't say I've seen one like that before. Would you mind if I copy your pictures and put them out on a waterfowl biologist email group I am a part of? They should be able to give some insight.

Duckman, no problem. That would be great. I'm gonna put him in the freezer. I'd love to show him to a biologist if there is any way to identify what the cross is.

    It’s a hen hybrid mallard/wood duck.

Don’t see many hens. Cool bird.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I said the same. Shared it with some buddies across the country who are big bird hunters, and they all said the same, a hen Mallard/Wood Duck. A neat duck. My offer still stands, if you don’t want it, I’ll drive to meet you and take it.

I'm gonna mount it but I will drive to any expert biologist to inspect it!
