I just hope it ain't as bad as this past freeze. Everybody did really well the last two days with the thaw and now it's locking up again. This is what we were working with in the bootheel (10 miles north of Big Lake).......killed some birds but damn that was some thick ass ice last weekend. Being 20 years younger than the rest of my crew didn't help much, I must admit that I got pretty good with a pickaxe and a sledge hammer
Hopefully this new freeze starts to thaw next Friday, I'm headed west on Thursday AM for the final trip of the season

I just had some dead duck pics texted to me from some old high school buddies who hunted there today. A pile of ducks
I think they are near a town named Grubbs? He said it was 20 degrees and 20 mph north wind.
Never been, but would like to go out there one day.

We are heading out Wednesday.
Plan to leave Tuesday, All be safe and good hunting
It's going to lock up solid Tuesday and Wednesday.
What does "locked up" mean? Everything froze over?
Yes
May open back up around Thursday, all be careful
Just hunt the rivers if it’s froze up

Headed out tomorrow am, hoping she'll be thawed out about the time we roll into town...
Leaving Monday morning hopefully perfect timing
Pulling into Memphis now. Be there in a couple more hours. Next few days should be good.
We got back Saturday and absolutely had a blast. Everyone in our 5 man group limited out all 3 days. Mallards, Gadwall, Bluebills, Ringnecks, Widgeon, Shovelers and one lone wood duck. Killed a few snows and specs also. Froze up solid the first two days but hunted in a 500 acre private lake and the last morning the fields had thawed enough to hunt them.
Great to hear, good shooting
Leaving after work to hunt til the close.
