    Default Quality Duck Lodges

Me and a group went to Arkansas this year (last few weeks) and even though the weather is what made it not as exciting as we were expecting, I also blame it on me planning it around being as cheap as possible. Lesson Learned in you get what you pay for. Me and atleast one of the other guys if not 3 or 4 of us decided next time we would save up the cash and do it right, without worrying about cost (to an extent)

So, with that being said, In the Arkansas/Missouri/Dakota/Oklahoma Region what are some serious Duck Guides/Lodges/Outfitters that you guys would recommend without considering how much it costs? We are open to other areas also if you have some input on anywhere else in the country. We prefer timber, but are open to pretty much anything, and are mainly looking for an all inclusive lodge that takes care of meals, decoys, setup, etc to avoid driving across the country again with 300 decoys and 6 coolers with fourwheelers.

    Thanks

Habitat flats seems to be top of the line on the TV. Mr. Vandermore seems to be a pretty cool cat too!

Look up Fieldquater guide service. They do mostly dry field hunts in the Dakotas but also are in Canada and Texas parts of the season. I went to high school with the fella. And he’s got it figured out!

Edit to add: Just read the rest of your post. He’s doesn’t have a lodge but they handle all of the decoys, setup, and what not. All you need is guns, shells, license and lodging in the area.

Been going with Bust-A-Duck (buster cooper) for a few years. He’s in NE Arkansas just south of Augusta. Great lodge and solid ground. Just like anywhere else out there, weather can make or break the trip. He has some backup spots on the river for when everything freezes solid. That said, I want to start going to Kansas.

He’s having a shit season this year. Didn’t flood any fields till after first split. Seems like good dude but not sold on his management practices. That’s just based of what he’s posting on FB. Never hunted there

He will tell you this is the worst season in 22 years. He has been doing very well after the thaw.

Five Oaks Duck Lodge, its a fancy place south of Stuttgart near Humphrey. They have fields and timber, I believe it is George Dunklin Jr.'s land. Our old club sat just to the south of them and was across from Hollowell Resevior/Bayou Meto. Miss that place!!

Bayou Meto was just named after George.
WithoT question 5Oaks hunting is hard to compete with, but just seeing what they do for the future of waterfowl is worth going by.

Habitat flats was a total let down and Tony Vandemore is about as cool as a dented rexcraft bugle.

I’ll give you a little wisdom I learned the hard way. You are hunting a migratory bird. You can pay whatever you want and still have shit hunts. If the lodging and meals are just as important then look at the hooray ranch, honey brake lodge, 5 oaks, or Slick McCollum’s. Yes you can still get skunked at any of those places. But they won’t serve you cold spaghetti and make you sit in the dirt hunting public ground. If you like that...give Tony Vandemore a call. He will call you back when he isn’t updating his twitter status.
