    Default Back problems

Been in a body fit class for over a year now, go every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Monday and Wednesday I go to couch to 5k class. Ran my last 5k in August, just keep going to class to stay motivated. This week did something to my back and it's driving me crazy, laying off both classes for the week but want to start back on Monday. Any of you guys that exersice regular run into back issues? Do you normally keep going and try to work thru it or lay off for awhile? Don't think it's major just uncomfortable.

Without knowing your symptoms how are we supposed to comment?

Eat more. Exercise less. A big gut will take the strain off of your back and put it in the front where it belongs

I workout regularly and live with constant back pain. You've probably strained a couple of muscles and they're contracted to the point of discomfort. Try stretching or go see a chiropractor for an adjustment. Then go running. The running helps me more then anything.

If you are running that much, make sure you get new shoes every couple months. If you are running in the same ones, it could be part of the problem. Its hard to tell though.

Not necessarily in your case but chronic back pain can often be attributable to stress.

Do you get headaches sometimes too? If so I googled your symptoms and I have bad news for you.

Seriously, hope you get some relief. If it's a muscle you should be fine in a few days. If it's spinal and you are getting nerve issues (radiating pain down the arms or legs), then I wouldn't try to run through it. Been there and done that.

Whatever your symptoms are, bourbon will fix them. You are welcome.

chiropractic and massage therapy are good places to start. A good one will also tell you if you have any imbalances that are causing back pain. Lack of flexibility in various areas (posterior chain, hips) can cause back pain, as can weakness in the same (does "body fit" involve dead lifts?). How much of your workout focuses on mobility?

now we're getting somewhere. Poor kid has a back issues and straight to the chiropractor!

I'd stop by the herbalist and certainly consider acupuncture, FIRST.

(and to everyone I offended.....well, suck it up. I'm just playin)

You left out the part where you're an asshole. I know most of us already know that, but there are a few newbies around.

I think you are on the right track taking a rest. Ice and ibuprofen can also help to relieve inflammation

Failing that, yeller onion and motor earl applied directly to the pain site
