Years ago, 1980's, a group of duck hunters convinced the DNR to stop hunting above the I-95 bridge on Santee at noon, hoping the ducks would be able to rest in the Swamp and, therefore, stay. Well, the ducks left the Swamp at dark and flew to the impoundments near the Congaree and Wateree Rivers. The effect was that the shooting did not improve in the Swamp, especially since the owners of the impoundments started shooting at 12:00. A half hour after noon, the ducks would pour in the Swamp again. Public hunters killed very little after that ban.

So what do you want government run wildlife management or landowner management like Germany? I prefer the North American Wildlife Conservation Model. But when change occurs not liked we hear government needs to stay out when they have been entrenched for 7 decades. Sorry to go over most hunters understanding of macro-management, few understand because they have a perfect balance of government and landowner involvement envision all elite socoalsit like. "The limits I want but the state enforce them on the tax payers dime". Sorry you miss and many the of the hypocrisy they spew. But offer now true rebuttal. Like most Libertarians less government until government enforces my views.

unsure if this thought makes sense in anyone else’s head, but what I am reading here is incoherent as fuck.

Simple. People claim they want government out of wildlife management except when they want a new regulation or law to improve their hunting.

Libertarians are seldom consistent on less government.

A true libertarian view of wildlife management would be privatizing wildlife like in Europe. That is keeping government out. I like the North American Model where everyone can hunt. It is socoalsit system and up to whims of government but better than anywhere else. When someone says in SC they want government out of managing wildlife they have no clue how much goverment is already involved.

Public yes but I have a difficult time cutting times for private land...let those folks do as they wish.

While the timing was coincidental, that was not what changed the game. Not even a little bit...

Food is not the problem...birds can't loaf around here apparently unless they go to private water.
If Joe Blow want's to blister his water up sunrise to sunset, someone like myself will gladly let the birds rest until opportunity presents itself for a timely strike!
I'd support it on public water (with tongue in cheek) , but not private!

Simple. A real refuge. Privately funded. It's mission? The benefit of migratory waterfowl on the Atlantic Flyway. It was revolutionary.
