Default What did curiosity get her

    Dead.

The first 3 came out a little before 4:30. They fead around in the field about 15 minutes before I finally had a shot. Squeezed the trigger on the biggest one, and she dropped in her tracks. 5 minutes later, I had a coyote hit the field trotting at about 275 yards from my stand. It wouldn't stop, so I tried it, but apparently didn't cut a hair. Had 2 more does step out just before 5 right where the coyote had come out. They fed on out in the field, but got farther from the stand. About 10 minutes later, to small bucks came out and fed right to them. A few minutes later, another small doe stepped out where the first 3 had come from. I made up my mind that if she walked up to the one I had shot, I was going good to shoot her also. A couple minutes later, curiosity got the best of her. The first one I shot would definitely qualify as a sookie. She tipped the scales at 123.

Yep. Had them loaded and heading out by 5:30. One of the other guys that I clean deer with had already texted that he had killed a nice buck, and I knew the other guy was hunting also. Figured 3 was enough to clean, especially since we already had 7 hanging in the cooler.

Lol. I'm going to sit in a stand again this afternoon with the intentions of killing another 1 or 2.

I have that intention every time I go, nocturnal SOB’s are making it difficult though.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Had 2 that were to small for even my standards step out at 40 yards from the stand at 5:20. Had another at 265 yards, and one more at 290 yards at 5:55. Just couldn't tell what they were at that distance that late. Wish my oldest had gone with me, I would've let her bust one of the small ones for her first deer. But as fate would have it, I let a friend's youngest son borrow her rifle and he killed his first.

If those 2 had lined up for me, I probably would've tried to kill both of them with one shot.
