Default Waterfowl lottery hunts 2017-18 season

I did not want to derail MaggieGlover's thread, so...

I got the email yesterday that I was drawn for Bear Island West.

    Anyone else get their notification?

4 of us got chosen for the Cape on December 20th. I have never been there and am looking forward to this hunt. Looking at last year's results, the Cape seemed to have about the best mixed bag with widgeon, gadwall, teal, redheads, and canvasbacks among others. I have hunted Murphy 4 times and had excellent results. I killed a cinnamon teal there a number of years ago and head guy said he had never heard of one killed in SC. It was a close shot and I tore it up and regrettably could not mount it.
I only hunt on days that end in "y"!

The Cape can be a zero shots fired hunt or a barn burner. Murphy is a different beast.

My dad and I were drawn for January 5th. He had a stroke about 6 years ago and lost the feeling in his right foot. He can get around pretty good and I can put him in the boat and pull/paddle us wherever we need to go. Would a marsh seat be beneficial down there for him so we can get away from the blind? Any insight is appreciated.

seriously fellows, have any of you ever considered suck starting a shotgun? It would be more intelligent than what you're currently doing.

It's not that, it's the fact that there are 13,000 members on the site, most of which probably 'duck hunt.' There are x number of spots/hunts available per year and that number isn't going to change. The more people apply, the longer it takes to get drawn. The more people talk about it on here, the more people apply...

Here in NC it’s $5 to get in win or lose there is no points if you don’t. I have put in and been pulled for the last 3 years in a row.

I see the posts every year and still have not put in for a waterfowl hunt in any of the Carolinas. I do swan permit and put in for a standby on Mattamuskeet once and was drawn for a hunt. Only reason I was there was for swans. That was just an extra kicker.

Never been skunked at the Cape. I had my best day on SC public water there. We limited out on Pintails, blacks, widgeon and teal. It was pre camera phone days. We were in big impoundment at intersection of river and waterway.

I think it is absolutely insane that people think this thread would make even a SLIGHT difference in the number of applicants.

Some of you people need to get over yourselves. Its a duck hunting web site. State draw hunts can be talked about. Seriously. Get a life.

By that logic all our paying sponsors are getting ripped off.
