That was my stomping grounds as a kid 1970 thru 1978.

We shot a few ducks off that little bridge on the upriver side of the lake.

Mine too- graduated LR in 79- we didn't have the money for the rec area- used to park our bikes on the dam and swim over there to hang out. Caught my first bass off the dam.

Actual winter temperatures to arrive by the end of the week (12/8). Lows in the high 20's and highs in the 40's for 7 to 10 days.

Rolling west right now. Temp has dropped 15 degrees since I got on the road. Looking at some low 20’s starting tomorrow night

Looks like the really cold stuff begins to set in today (Christmas), and gets real during the week leading up to New Year's Day....

Were showing a lot of lows and snow after the NY but it keeps changing and now looks like a slight warm up following the NY.
I wanna get excited but can't quite get there...

My season is over, unless I can find some Canada's to get into. I hate the cold.

“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”

Saw tons of duck in the upper chespeake bay yesterday & a pile of them in the James River the day before. The Hudson River is freezing over all the time & most lakes are froze in the NE. Should be a good push south
