You're going to pay out the ass. Probably cheaper to hire someone.

I inquired at bobcat of Greenville back in the summer. They had a T750 with mulcher on the yard and it was $1500 per day. You can get a hell of a lot of work done for $1500 with no learning curve, hire someone. I'm on the schedule for Donnie Strickland to come out and do some work.

Check the prices on that attachment and it will become crystal clear why it costs so much

Yep. Call Donald Strickland. Stricks Forestry Mulching, man knows what hes doing. He has about any machine from a CAT 299D to a Tigercat with a Mulcher on the front of it. Helluva nice guy too, hes a customer of mine. Hes outta Honea Path but will travel just about anywhere.

Watching someone that knows what they are doing with one of those things is impressive. But they are also dangerous. I watched a piece of wood about the size of a 2x4 go straight through a sheet of plywood. And that was 25 feet from the machine.

Not in the upstate, but I have a contact around here that is very reasonable if anyone needs one.

I met a guy at the Classic a couple of years ago that has a mulch outfit, I actually thought he was a member on here. I have seen a little cheaper alternative do similar stuff. It as "drum mulcher" PTO driven, 3 pt hitch type behind a 75hp tractor. guy cleared a lot by my office and think his hourly rate was 150-175. I have my doubts that it would eat through 10 acres of 5" saplings as fast as a normal mulcher would

Most good operators will run between 150-200 an hour. Just the cutter is somewhere around 25k if not more and to replace worn out teeth is in the thousands. Future maintenance is what a lot of the cost entails as you can see.
