Dang I hate that for Hamp. He worked in the lab at Capsugel when I was out there. Hamp inherited a good size chunk of land. We used to talk hunting every day. He also invited me on several good dove shoots. I knew he was a diabetic even then cause he had to give himself injections.

630$ is what was raised. Thought it would've went higher than that.

Would have sold for a lot more if they had sold them one at a time.

Maybe, maybe not. Ebay can be hot or cold for turkey calls. It just all depends on the winds....I guess.

I'm surprised Steve Mann didn't donate a box too. Course I haven't talked to Steve in over a year, but I seriously doubt he has stopped making them. I worked with Steve everyday at Westinghouse in the late 1980s. He was Neil Cost's apprentice and Neil taught him almost everything on making boxes. Neil is the one who taught me how to run a diaphragm. I sat in his living room many times with him showing me how to make the right sounds. For a long time I went everywhere with a couple of diaphragms in my mouth. I would call Neil from work and he would critique my calls over the phone. Then one day it just all clicked into place. I didn't need Neil to tell me I had it, I could tell I had it. Neil was the best most aggravating old man I ever met. He grumbled and growled a lot and you knew exactly what he was thinking cause he'd say it. He didn't mince words but said what was on his mind. But if you wanted to learn "turkey" from him he would spend a lot of time teaching you.

It may have done better if it was put up just before turkey season. Once turkey fever sets in before the season opens people will pay a lot more for "turkey stuff." But I'm sure Hamp is appreciative for any help he can get.

Does Hamp have a site or page online for people donating funds to help out?
