College football scenario: Player A is called for targeting. Officials go to video review to confirm call prior to announcing ejection of Player A. Can Player A go to the sideline and be replaced on the field by Player B during the review or otherwise before the ejection is announced?

It looked to me like Clemson defense was still trying to get correct personnel on the field after Muse was ejected. I thought it was obvious the call would be upheld and Muse should have been subbed out. Are they allowed to sub during the review to prevent the confusion that seemed to help Louisville score?

I think they were late with the defensive call in that play. They were late with the call several times
