It will be ugly if we ever have to fight Russia and/or China. No two ways about it.

The next fight will be wherever the elite in Washington send our young men and women to fix a problem that disrupts our interests. Wars aren't just fought to protect the homeland as much as we like to think it is. Washington doesn't give a fuck about vets anymore than they care about "the people". We are all simply a tool or tools to help them accumulate wealth and power. And when some other nation gets in the way of that then they send in our grunts to take care of the problem. And they get all of us to support it with the same old "god and country and apple pie bit" that has worked for years. Don't get me wrong. I have a thousand times more respect for the 19 year old marine shooting dickheads in the face for a living, than I ever will for some sackless politician in Washington. The marine is doing it to protect his buddies. The politician does nothing but for himself.

I was discussing with my wife the other day whether today's culture has the stomach to face the kind of casualties a war against a strong opponent would present. My position is that public opinion would have to be galvanized by such a horrific event or enemy action that would make 9/11 pale by comparison. We forget to quickly as a culture.

Most people have no propensity for violence. Today's society is too busy looking for the latest thing to be offended by on social media or some other nonsensical bullshit. War is something they read about in the news or see on YouTube. The vast majority of Americans see war as this thing that's icky, but ok if we are trying to help people. That's why politicians push all this "nation building" bullshit. War is really about extreme and utter violence. Killing your enemy and making it so fucking terrible they won't fuck with you again. We haven't really allowed our troops to do that on a full scale in a very long time. The rules of engagement severely hamstring our military and do not allow us to wage all out war.

America still has an army of hunters and gun nuts and that army is more heavily armed than ever thanks to Obama and Hillary
