In case you ever decide to shoot an elk with the rifle. Go above 270 as that is the breaking point.

You should probably get with the times. Tons of elk being killed out past 500 with stuff as small as a 6xc.
Seeing these soulless vanilla ice lookin Yankees on a bassboat is worse than watching a woman get her implants taken out. It's just wrong. Get back in your Lund and go back to infisherman.

Check with your outfitter , might not let you shoot a .243 caliber for elk. I am sure that Stone Cold would have no problem but we can't all be superior to the masses like Griffin!

25-06 is a killing machine. In the right hands , with the right projectile will kill anything in North America short of a grizzly. One of the best medium game cartridges out there.
Between the OP's two choices, 280.

Sorry let me clarify. Several states restrict you to rifles 270 and larger.

It's the quadrophonic blaupunkt of the 18's dontchano?

Long range hunting flips the dynamic to the shooter and not the weapon. A simple equation will tell whether your chosen projectile will be enough at your chosen distance, the rest is entirely on the shooter.
