    Default Indian summer?

A friend told me that we're about to enter "indian summer" now that the hurricane is past. I told him that there has to be a hard frost before indian summer can begin. What's the verdict out there?

    From the Old Farmer's Almanac

Here are criteria for an Indian summer:
•As well as being warm, the atmosphere during Indian summer is hazy or smoky, there is no wind, the barometer is standing high, and the nights are clear and chilly.
•A moving, cool, shallow polar air mass is converting into a deep, warm, stagnant anticyclone (high pressure) system, which has the effect of causing the haze and large swing in temperature between day and night.
•The time of occurrence is important: The warm days must follow a spell of cold weather or a good hard frost.

The conditions described above must occur between St. Martin’s Day (November 11) and November 20.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Tecumseh-

She only wanted to be there for the ride
A bottle of wine, a coupla lines
She was there for the night
