I'm talking about the material itself. Machining it isn't cheap either.

It's the material itself plus the pain of machining it.

I'm no fish poet, but these are my go-to when being stored on the center console: http://www.cabelas.com/product/BOONE...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Your run-of-the-mill aluminum pliers with the braid cutter on the side and a lanyard are what stay in my pocket. Ones nearly identical to these can be found regularly for $20-$30: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabel...rs/1166282.uts

And, FWIW, a 1"x10"x8" piece of titanium is about $800.

You get your high horse, rich ass over here and I will show you what you need. Just make sure they will cut a bigass treble hook off at the barb. Ask me how I know.

Jigging World has some decent house brand pliers in both straight and split ring. I get about 1 summer out of a set of pliers and keep about 3 sets on the boat at a time. The jaws, cutters or ring tips wear out or corrode, bend or break but by that time the pliers are about shot too. I'd never buy the expensive ones either since I occasionally donate mine to the bottom structure. The long nose Berkeley with the ring tip are good, just treat them with corrosion block after every trip or two.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Sergeant makes fishing pliers in 2 sizes, the larger have good side cutter for heavier cable and hooks like DD said make sure you have some cutters that will cut the trebles on Rapalas , Drones, and Russell Lures. Small bolt cutters will do big hooks.

What is the benefit of Ti pliers?

    Is it the weight reduction?
    Yup, he's crazy...

Weight reduction and no corrosion. I just buy decent stainless steel pliers.
