    Default Sitting with my Youngest

My 7yo has decided he wants to hunt and fish with his dad and big brother more this year. I had to make a deal with them, on in the AM, one in the PM. That's easy though since my oldest gets up in time to kick roosters out of bed. Cullen decided he'd go tonight only if he could drive the Gator. Alright, let's roll.

We got in the stand and it was still, hot and humid. Add being hungry and fidgety, I didn't think it would last long. Kept on working with him, putting getting down off and talking to him about other things. He doesn't sit still and has no patience. I was almost about to give in when I heard the water in the drainage ditch behind us change pitch. I heard him come up the bank and pass by in the pines close enough for us to both smell. That got the boy's attention. He got still and quiet, when I looked over the binos were up and he's zoned into the feeder.

We both saw him at the same time and Cullen, who'd never seen a live deer in a stand, whispers "that's a shooter". The buck stood facing the stand and never would turn. I eased behind the Remington 700 XCR .300wsm and settled in. I squeezed off the round for the DRT frontal shot. My boy, who comes up with stuff out of the blue uncovers his ears and says dead serious, "that was awesome, tracking job will be short".

Nice 8pt for his wall .

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
