Default Introduce a kid to dove hunting.

Had a small shoot today which included a few friends off this site. Action was steady but not a barn burner. Every adult shooter had at least 10 birds.

But my main goal was to have alot of kids on the field today. I'm happy to say we had more little kids than we did grown ups today.

It was awesome to see the kids picking up doves, finishing them off with bb guns, showing off their doves they shot, and having a great time outdoors.

Take a kid dove hunting. They are the future of the sport. It's easy to get caught up in the details. But even if we didn't kill any doves today, it made my day to see those younguns in the field today having a good time.

(Sorry no pics as I don't want to post pics of other people's kids)

Hell, post em up. My little one had a blast. It was her first hunt ever, I'm ashamed to say. She's about to be 6 and what happened today was exactly the way I wanted her first hunt to go. She was a little scared of the gun at first, but by the end she was helping by calling birds out for me, and finding em in the corn stubble, she had an absolute blast! By the time we left she was asking for her own gun.

It's been a coons age since I got lost in Sardinia. Thanks for the invite dawg. Really appreciate it sir. Give your cousin my number about getting in touch with Jason (when you mention it he'll know what you're talking about.)

Thanks for the pics WW. Great to meet your little girl today. She did great.

And I noticed when she left that her visor had some dove blood on it. Good stuff.

We just woke up and she's still got her camo shirt on. She wouldn't take it off... Except during her bath of course. I am so proud. She keeps talking about that bb gun.

    I love it!

Awesome! That's what it's all about. Colt didn't get any birds Saturday, but still had fun. Yesterday was a failed goose hunt, yet he's ready to try it again.

Glad to hear there were more youngins than adults!

I disagree. "Take one make one" and other such programs are thought up by people who need to make sure they have revenue and or a job in 10 years.

The more kids you introduce to hunting today, the more punks and peckerheads you'll be competing against in a few years.

My oldest hasn't been on a dove hunt yet. I took my youngest to a public field last year on opening day. She absolutely loved it. Would love to be able to take them both. UGA, if you have another hunt, we'd be happy to participate. Glad y'all had a good time yesterday.

This was his first year with a semi auto. He had a single shot 410 before. He hasn't really shot it all that much either but he had a blast and I think it finally clicked with him. He has the loading and shooting part down, killing will have to come with practice.
