    What is a hub assembly???? Its a bearing inside a axle tube.

    He made it sound like the hub was the only place it could be leaking. Maybe I'm doing a terrible job explaining this but does the oil not also lubricate the hub? If it's not leaking at the seal where else could the oil come from?

    tell dude to tear it back down, inspect it and if nothing found replace the bearing.

    He should not charge you.
