Default How long does Glyphosate take?

I sprayed a patch under some powerlines yesterday with a mixture of glyphosate and triclopyr to eventually reclaim the area for a game food plot. I mowed it last week, and sprayed it this week with the intention of starting discing next week. I expect to have to re-spray when the seeds I disc under germinate. I'm not really expecting to get it into shape for this season.

I sprayed it around noon and it is in full sun. A trash-mover rain hit around 5:00. Did I waste my time and chemicals or is that enough time for the herbicides get taken up and start their work?

In my opinion it needs to dry and be on the weeds or whatever you sprayed for four hours and then it doesn't matter.

If the gly was going to work in the first place, you are good...

However glyphosate itself is slow to show visual symptoms. That's why most roundup you buy at lowes has paraquat mixed in so you will see it working quicker.

As you know Esso, 2-4 D is a much better alternative than paraquat when mixing with Gly in case some of those who do not are considering it...

That's because the round up concentrate usually only has 18-21% glyphosphate also.

    Buying generic glyphosate has 41%.

I've seen results on new growth at 7 days.

Absolutely. Paraquat is just what generally comes in the pre mixed windex bottles.

Quick pro is expensive but will show signs of wilting within 2 hours in some cases. I wouldn't use it for an agricultural or food plot but in the landscape industry it's great when customers want to see immediate results.

I usually just get a jug of 41% from Agri Supply. When I spray it I usually mix it 4oz to the gallon then add 1 ounce of 2 4 D. Seems to really give it some bite.

I didn't know it until recently but there is a 43% gly out there. It is expensive compared to the 41%.

The quick pro is 70%. But $75 plus and comes in a dry solution.

It's. 7 lb container which makes 70 gallons.

Glyphosate generic (41%) is $35 for 2.5 gallons. Which at 2 ounces per gallon makes 160 gallons.

Hypothetically if someone mixed it at 8% wouldn't that have the same end result as the 75% glyphosate?
