This is some crazy shit. If the ruling is upheld LA may very well have some riots on it's hands over this BS.

Have you asked yourselves what happens if Santee Cooper is sold to a private corporation due to the Jenkinsville cock up?

By reading the subsequent articles on that website, it sounds like this stems from Louisiana's law of tidal waters and free flowing rivers belonging to private landowners and corporations, not the state. Looks like landowners around Catahoula want to be reimbursed for the oil and gas royalties the state "took", and likely their own private duck blinds.

Good thing SC's navigable waters are public waterways.

Ive thought a lot about the talk of the Santee Cooper sale, maybe it would be for the best from a habitat and management standpoint???

After further research on the topic, it seems that the the issue is lands around the high water mark. Not necessarily the lake bed itself. I guess the oil people have gotten their panties in a wad possibly. I may be dead wrong, but I don't ever see Catahoula being off limits to the public. If such should have happen, it would be twice as bad for public officials, compared to the VC Summer fiasco.

Say Progress bought SC. Take just Sparkleberry's 18ish,000 acres. A gift of that acreage to The Nature Conservancy or The Department of Interior (who really wants it), offsets one hell of a lot of tax burden...

I don't think that will happen either. Have you ever seen a state capitol building burnt before? Neither have I. That would be one situation were the capitol would be at great risk

People are clamoring all over the State for the PSC to be sold off. What a private corporation does with it's purchased assets in that event, has nothing to do with the "State House"...

As many snouts at the trough on that one, it is as inevitable as the failure in Jville, though it will be several years down the road...

Trashy ass bleach jugs hanging from every limb and all. Makes me sick how trashed up that lake is and the potential it has.

I agree with that. They should not allow all the painted coke and bleach bottles on the lake. That would go along ways to cleaning up the place and stop alot of the blinds every 300 yards.
