Default Military Issues New Contract for 7.62 Rifles

The Elites don't fear the tall nails, government possesses both the will and the means to crush those folks. What the Elites do fear (or should fear) are the quiet men and women, with low profiles, hard hearts, long memories, and detailed target folders for action as they choose.

Let me know the next time you find a "off the shelf" capable of full auto capability.

And why are they limiting this too 16-20"

The SCAR comes in a 13" configuration "off the shelf".

I'm all for a 308, but it needs to be in a 10.5-14.5 max length.

With the new advances in powder and projectiles. Not hunting rounds, these lengths can send rounds at 2400-2700fps.

A 125 running 2700 is hell on what ever it hits!

Wouldn't something in a 6.5 make a little more sense?

Don't think that is a NATO caliber, has to comply with NATO rules, I think that's correct, but I could be wrong.

To hell with NATO. Tell them to get on board, now there will be another NATO round.

The only qualm I have with a SCAR and I fixed it on mine is the stupid reciprocating charging handle. They make one that mimics a FAL and stays forward while the bolt is cycling.

I know that is suppose to be a attempt at a bolt assist, but usually when a bolt doesn't shut (assuming your not riding the charging handle) there is a reason. By "assisting" the bolt shut you are making the jam worse, more than likely. If they were going to put a forward assist as per the mil requirement, why not make it a passive assist like on the AR platforms.

    Other wise I agree.

Might be a cost issue. SCAR runs around $2400

    Maybe so.

I just think it's retarded Big Army gets wrapped around the axle on so many issues - like this new 762 rifle and the new pistol for instance - when the answer is right in front of their faces. The R&D has been done by SOCOM, JSOC, etal and they choose the SCAR and the Glock 19. Just follow suit, if it's good enough for them it will be good enough for Big Army.

I just read that 25th INF is going to be testing ANOTHER new uniform over in Hawaii. Some hot weather uniform with no chest pockets on it and made with slightly less cotton to be faster drying.
What a waste of time and money. Combat shirt maybe? Hello Big Army?
