Default Past or Presnt Owners of Danner Sharptail Snake Boots...

I'm presently trying to figure out what size in this Sharptail Snake boot is going to fit me comfortably enough to move from the Pronghorns to the Sharptail, and having a tougher time than expected.

Thus far, it looks like the 10EE boots may do it, but I'm wondering how long it may take before the foot box loosens up since they're heavier duty than the regular Sharptails.

Do any of you who have them, or have had them, recall how much looser they got, and how long it took? It's been so many years since I bought a heavy duty leather boot like this I'm gojng to restrain from guessing the answer.

I've tested the 10.5EE and it felt like an 11EE with a lot of room in the ankle and heel.

The 10D is cut slim enough that I can't even get my right foot in it, but that's not unusual for that size.

My regular Sharptails are 10.5EE's, but they now fit pretty loose after about 7-8 years or so, so it's hard to compare the two.

Btw, whichever sizes I don't keep will be put in the TP to pass on the great price I got on them. Danner will pay me for return shipping, and a full refund, but I'll offer them to you guys first to see if anyone is interested.

Bought mine before turkey season. After a couple trips through the woods, they were fine. I don't have a wide foot so I bought 12D. Wear a 12 running shoe.

Would love to, but I've heard enough stories about their fitting issues nowadays that it isn't worth the high cost, even if I was going to pay it.

But did they just get softer, as expected, or did the foot box gain some room in it? The boot is so stiff that I'm not sure what will stretch and what may just become softer.

Foot box has stretched very little but they are softer already. Again, I bought mine right before turkey season so they are still relatively new.

Take a look at Georgia Boots Athens Snake Boots. I chose these over the Danners. I also have the standard Athens boot and I love them.

So sayeth the guy who is buying his boots off the shelf.

The ONLY way to get boots that fit YOUR feet is to buy custom. I have been a Russell customer for over 30 years now. They have never disappointed me.

I bought them direct from Danner during the Father's Day sale. They ship for free and pay return shipping also, so they make it relatively easy to try different sizes if there's any question.

I originally thought that going with the same size as my older Danner Sharptail hunting boots would be a good start, but they're built on a different last so they fit differently. Thus the additional two sizes to try out.

Hey, I'm just going on info from the guys here, some of whom have said they've had to go back and forth several times to get their boots fitted, and some of those never worked out. If I recall, one or two commented that things weren't the same since the original owner passed on... or something to that effect.

I may end up trying the Russell boots, but not yet ready to put out $700+ for a pair of boots. If I was living in an area that I saw a lot of snakes in, I'd think harder about it.

Call Danner @ 877-432-6637. Having had a couple of conversations with two of their Reps, I have no doubt they'll help you out to get it resolved.

I've had the standard sharptails for a couple years. Normally I wear a 15, but I went with a 14E and they fit really well. They loosened up a good bit as they got softer and as long as it's not over 75* it's what I'll wear everywhere. Fancy enough for church, and durable enough for hunting.

Sportin', isn't it about time you try to grow up and stop being such a childish lil' dipshit. Some people here may think you're humorous, but a lot of us see you as just a lil' pissant.

Go stick up your thumb, have seat on it, and contemplate drinking five gallons of glyphosate for the good of humanity.
