For a new range? And why
I just recently got gas and love it. Mostly because I can change the temperature much more quickly and I think it heats up the pan quicker

Gas. For the reasons noted above, plus the food just tastes better.

Gas will give you more control of the temp. You can light a cigarette on it. And when the power is out, you can keep cooking. I hate an electric range. And damn a glass top stove.
There's just no going back. I feel like I'm camping when I'm up at the lake on my electric top. It's just so archaic, but it's like the opposite. Electric ovens were made for people that think cooking is a chore and food as simply as fuel.
Gas gas gas. Not dual fuel. GAS
better temp control. Oven will have more even heat and will maintain temp better. My Christmas pecan pies never looked better.
You can use all cast iron. Electric cooktop will warp cast iron in a heart beat. And you can't use them on a glass range.

Only bad thing about gas is having to put in a tank and have some jackleg deliver fuel. Unless you're lucky enough to have a gas line.
Every time I cook a pot of rice on a glass top I want to choke the SOB that thought glass tops were a good idea.
I have electric now and I'm looking for a reason to replace it with gas.
YEP. You will like it and no regrets

How about prices on some? I have to buy one tom
A plumber or someone like that should be able to put a conversion kit on one if it doesn't come with one. I looked at the time because I wasn't sure I could talk sce&g to run a line where we built. They advertise a small loss of power going to propane, I doubt you could really tell it though. Heck it might even help on a low burner. I use simmer plates when I'm working on something like grits, sometimes a low just isn't low enough. You're only talking about like ten bucks or so for a simmer plate.

With gas, you can cook when the power is out. The draw back for you would be the cost to run a line from the highway.
